Resumo

This paper assesses the independent transmission operator model as designed in the Directives 2009/72/EC and 2009/73/EC, respectively Electricity and Gas Directives. The focus of the paper is to identify its main advantages and disadvantages from a regulatory perspective and also for a transmission system operator applying the model.
